About Media Mouse

Media Mouse is an independent media group that formed in 1999 in response to the corporate media's unwillingness to cover movements for social change and a recognition of the need for more independent perspectives in Grand Rapids (read more: who we are and history).

Since 1999, Media Mouse has closely identified itself with the Indymedia network and has taken advantage of public access and the Internet to provide independent coverage of local, national, and international events of interest to those interested in pursuing social change. Our work is grounded in the belief that the news provided on this site is a catalyst for further action or will otherwise support the various local, national, and international movements for social change.

Our primary means of distributing content is this website which fuses various blogging technologies with independent media production and citizen journalism. We aim to cover local events and issues that, for a variety of institutional reasons, are not covered in the corporate media. Our media production is divided into the following categories:
