While Media Mouse understands the potential of technology to democratize society and support movements for social change, it is also important to understand that technology, especially computer equipment, frequently comes with a series of toxic consequences in the form of "e-waste."

Every year, hundreds of thousands of old computers and mobile phones are dumped in landfills or burned in smelters. Thousands more are exported, often illegally, from the Europe, US, Japan and other industrialized countries, to Asia where people are exposed to a variety of toxic chemicals and poisons.
