Barack Obama cannot implement "progressive" politics until the majority of the country is ready to support the ideas.

Street will also make considerable money on his book.

Street sounds like an idealistic and very angry liberal rather than dealing with the reality that Obama has to compromise on many issues because he is President to all people, not just the liberals.

Obama is dealing with reality - he is not a King - he has to work within the boundaries of US government. He is also having to deal with a financial crisis that does not have any good solutions.

Sadly, it takes considerable money to run for any political office, especially the President. Yes, Obama had some breaks along the way. Yes, Obama is not perfect, but he was far better than any of the other candidates.

From Street's other writings, it is apparent that he did not support McCain. His analysis was wrong about the "First Presidential Debate, Race, and the Election"

"I thought Obama naturally "won" the debate. He is clearly the better of the two corporate-military candidates: smarter and less vicious and dangerous and more human. He was very smooth.

But I'm not sure it matters. Most Americans don't vote primarily on the basis of detailed policy issues, foreign or otherwise and all McCain really needed to do was show up and fill space talking about his "experience" and not look like a complete incompetent. He achieved those basic aims, frankly."

McCain received terrible reviews on his debate appearances, which was reflected in the polls.
