Essay on CAFTA and Guatemala

|

A new essay on CAFTA and Guatemala, "From West Michigan to Central America," by local organizer Jeff Smith has been posted in the commentary section of the site. The essay was also submitted to the Grand Rapids Press, which, not surprisingly, rejected it as both an op-ed and a Sunday Essay piece. Jeff has also written a new column using the Press' rejection of his essay as an examination of how the Press refuses to print anti-corporate perspectives. It should be noted that The Grand Rapids Press has not yet provided any substantive coverage of CAFTA despite the fact that the trade agreement will likely be voted on in May.
