Bush Seeking Support of Hispanic Representatives

|

This week President George W. Bush is increasing efforts to gain Hispanic support for CAFTA. Bush will speak on Wednesday to the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in a speech that will state the Bush administration's case for CAFTA in an attempt to persuade Hispanic congresspeople to vote in favor of the agreement. As of right now, several Hispanic congresspeople are undecided on the agreement while others have stated that they will be voting "no" on the agreement.

Yesterday, House Democrat William Jefferson of Louisiana announced that he supports CAFTA, making him the second Democrat to publicly announce their support for the trade agreement.
