March against Oppression in Downtown Grand Rapids

|

About 50 people marched through downtown Grand Rapids on Monday morning calling attention to the unjust sentencing of Eugene Atkins last month. Members of the Millions More Movement marched from the corner of Wealthy and Division to the Kent County Court House. From the court house they marched to the Federal building, then the Prosecuting attorney's office, before heading back to the court house. People carried signs that read "No Justice, No Peace" and "The Eugene Atkins Conviction... Now every black person has slave status!" None of the local commercial media showed up to report on the march, but WOOD Radio ran a story this morning and online entitled "Racial Injustice?" The Millions More Movement plans to continue educating the public on this case and promoting justice in the court system.
