The first new overtime regulations in more than fifty years went into effect today. The new rules, widely assailed by labor unions, are expected to result in the loss of overtime pay for thousands of people while the AFL-CIO has estimated that as many as 6 million workers will lose overtime pay with the biggest impact on people earning between $23,660 and $100,000. The cuts in overtime are the latest in a long decline in benefits given to workers.
