Appeals Court Refuses to Remove MCRI from Ballot

|

Yesterday the United States 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati denied a request for an injunction removing the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (MCRI) from the November ballot, citing the fact that the lawsuit filed by By Any Means Necessary (BAMN) has little chance of succeeding. The injunction was filed to request removal of the MCRI from the November 7 ballot while BAMN pursues the appeals process. Following the court decision, BAMN said that they will push for an expedited hearing on removing the Initiative from the ballot due to systematic fraud in the petition gathering process. Last month, the fraud was confirmed in a US District Court but the Judge in the case allowed the Initiative to remain on the ballot.
