The Michigan Campaign Finance Network has released an updated list of the top 200 lobbyists in Michigan. Lobbyists expenses were more than $17.7 million from January to July of this year, a number that is four percent higher than last year. In a news release, Michigan Campaign Finance Network executive director Rich Robinson said that Michigan's "reporting scheme is woefully inadequate compared to federal reporting or some of the other states" and that there is no law requiring lobbyists to indicate what bills, budgets, and regulations they are working on. Seven of the top ten lobbyists were multi-client firms, while the Michigan Education Association was the top special interest group.
