French Government Declares that France has Returned to “a Totally Normal Situation”

A day after describing the situation in France as “almost normal,” the French government has declared that France is back to “a totally normal situation” with few arrests and arsons last night. Of course, the institutional racism in French society that sparked the rebellion remains and little has been offered to improve the situation for those who have been systematically disenfranchised from society. Interestingly, a new radical analysis of the rebellion and an analysis published in the Economist both cited continued racism and the legacy of colonialism as reasons for the rebellion.
