Publication Guidelines
Media Mouse does not guarantee that it will publish all stories it receives, but the likelihood of publication increases greatly if the following conditions are met:
- Familiarize yourself with the editorial policy and adhere to its principles.
- The story is of interest to people in Grand Rapids either by providing coverage of an issue that is being ignored or inadequately reported by the corporate media or provides additional information on or analysis of an issue receiving attention in the corporate media.
- Media Mouse publishes news, book reviews, commentary, and photographs that it receives.
- Stories must respect the basic rules of grammar and spelling and be written in a semi-journalistic style. The Chicago Independent Media Center (IMC) has a helpful document explaining how to write news articles, as does the Santa Cruz IMC.
- Writers should take advantage of the fact that they are writing for the web and link to relevant documents and web sites within their stories.
If you have questions about your story and its appropriateness for the Media Mouse site, feel free to contact us.
