War Profiteers and Iraq

As Congress asks for billions more for the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, basic social services and the local economy suffers. This month’s packet includes details on:

• Some of the companies that are profiting off the war and their connections to the Bush administration (article 1, article 2
• A nationwide campaign for accountability
  read the campaign statement and sign the statement.
• Flyers to make the local connections on war costs and local costs examining public schools and public transportation

In March 2003, the Pentagon awarded Rockford-based Wolverine Worldwide a contract to manufacture boots for the military. Within the past month Wolverine has hired replacement workers due to a strike by the union. Taxpayers pay for the military contract, which benefits Wolverine and then they don’t honor worker demands.
