Video: Protest Targets Representative Ehlers' Support of the Iraq War

|

On Saturday, over two-hundred participated in a march organized by the local antiwar group ACTIVATE. The group marched to the home of Grand Rapids area congressman Vern Ehlers, who has been a supporter of the war since its inception. Moreover, Representative Ehlers has continued to support the occupation of Iraq, stating last month on the floor of the House that he opposes "a cut-off of funds and a premature withdrawal of troops from Iraq." In what was a significant tactical victory for the Grand Rapids antiwar movement, the march let Ehlers--who was inside his house--know that there is strong support for the immediate end of the occupation.

A video from outside Ehlers' house shows how powerful directly confronting those responsible for the war can be:

Regardless of how Ehlers has responded in the media to the protest, it is clear that the protest was a significant step forward in holding him accountable for his support of the war.
