Protests against the Republican National Convention (RNC) have begun:
- The 258-mile DNC2RNC March has arrived in New York City and staged a march through Manhattan.
- The Chinatown Justice Project staged a rally opposing the Bush administration's wars at home and abroad highlighting the fact that while the government spends money on wars many workers in Chinatown are without healthcare.
- Ten nude AIDS activists led by ACT UP New York stopped traffic by Madison Square Garden yesterday, shedding their clothes to reveal "DROP THE DEBT" stenciled across their backs. As a crowd of hundreds gathered and news cameras rolled, the six women and four men chanted, "Bush, Stop AIDS - Drop the Debt Now!" until they were arrested.
- There have also been two banner drops, one at a hotel where RNC delegates will be staying and another on a bridge in Chinatown.
More actions and protests are planned throughout the week and Media Mouse's coverage from New York City will begin tomorrow.
