Levin Explains Peru FTA Vote
On Tuesday, Senator Levin voted in support of the Peru Free Trade Agreement (Peru FTA). At the time, a statement was not available explaining his vote, but he has since issued one claiming that the labor and environmental provisions made the agreement worth supporting. Despite Levin's claims, not a single environmental or labor group in the U.S. supported the agreement.

Proposed I-69 Expansion being Opposed in Indiana
In Indiana, a planned expansion of I-69--which already runs through Michigan--is meeting increased opposition from groups ranging from environmental radicals to farmers whose land might be taken from them. Peru FTA to be Debated in Congress Today
Today, the US Congress is debating the Peru Free Trade Agreement (Peru FTA). The agreement has been criticized by US- and Peru-based environmental and labor groups, yet Democratic Party leaders cut a deal with the Bush administration in May allowing for the agreement to be considered in exchange for minor changes in the language of the agreement.

Ehlers Votes to "Help" Laid-off Workers, Fails to Mention his Record on Trade

Protests in Germany in Advance of G8 Summit
In Germany, protests have begun against the against the G8 (Group of 8) meeting that will take place later this week. Protestors, calling the G8 "a self-appointed informal world government," mobilized 80,000 people before the start of the meeting under the themes "Make Capitalism History" and "Another World is Possible."

Bill Clinton, NAFTA, and Michigan

New Report Details Starbucks "Social Irresponsibility"
