Analysis:

What can we say about this? The story can not be classified as news by anyone serious about journalism. It is not local and has no bearing on people’s lives. The piece begins with an Aerosmith sound track, Living on the Edge, which makes this more of an entertainment piece than anything else. Considering all the important things that are happening in our community, viewers should ask themselves how this serves their interests.

Story:

WZZM 13 News reader - Up there on the ledge is a man, no wait, it is a possum. Drivers on an overpass in downtown Tulsa was surprised to see a dazed and confused possum peering over the edge, apparently taking stock in its future. Witnesses say he stood there for several hours just looking at the 40 feet of space between him and the ground. Now no one called a psychiatrist to evaluate his mental state. At last word he was still living on the edge.
