Analysis:

Not much can be said about this story. They spend a great deal of time basically promoting a local business. Even at the end when the news reader tells people who want more information to go to their news link section, all it takes people to is the website of Neo Imago. As of this posting, Channel 17 has yet to report on the May 3 local elections, but they can spend 2 and a half minutes telling us about permanent makeup.

Story:

WXMI 17 News reader #1 – Imagine going swimming or taking a shower and having your makeup staying put.

WXMI 17 News reader #2 – A permanent makeup artist at Neo-imago in Kentwood can give you a look that can last for years. Fox 17’s Lindsey Zabor shows us why it doesn’t have to be overly dramatic in tonight’s Fit to a T.

WXMI Reporter – Cynthia Harrison calls herself an artist. She has been doing makeup for 30 years, even worked for the stars in LA, but instead of brushes her tool is now this machine. Cynthia uses it to turn befores into permanent afters.

White Female Business person – What we’re doing is putting very tiny dots of inert pigment into the dermal layer of the skin so that it is there all the time.

WXMI Reporter – Makeup that lasts for 3 to 4 years.

White Female Business person – You wake up with it, you get out of the pool with it, you’ve got your brows and your liner and your lips on.

WXMI Reporter – Joanie Dowling had her brows and liner done and loves it.

White Female Customer – It’s a great time saver. It makes you look better, feel better about yourself.

WXMI Reporter – Since Cynthia does test runs Joanie says she wasn’t worried at all about the end result.

White Female Customer – She really takes into consideration your skin tone coloring, your hair color, your personality...

WXMI Reporter – And don’t think permanent has to mean heavy.

White Female Business person – It doesn’t have to look like makeup at all. It can be very, very natural.

WXMI Reporter – Cynthia doesn’t just do permanent makeup here she also uses her machine to do skin reconstruction for breast cancer survivors and burn victims.

White Female Business person – The activation of the needles helps to loosen up the skin that happens in scar tissue that tends to make it buckle or pull. It helps to relax that tissue so that it gives it a more natural appearance.

WXMI Reporter – What about pain? Cynthia uses anesthetic so most patients just feel a little discomfort. It takes about a week to heal and for the color to lighten a little. Joanie says it is all worth it.

White Female Customer – I don’t have to worry about it smearing off or washing off in…so that is very, very nice.

WXMI Reporter – Cynthia loves making a difference in her patient’s lives, like helping this woman who lost her eye brows in chemo-therapy. Cynthia says anyone can be a dramatic after shock.

White Female Business person – Everyone loves it. In fact, I hear so often “wish I had done this 10 years ago.”

WXMI Reporter – In Kentwood, Lindsey Zabor, Fox 17 News at 10.

WXMI 17 News reader #2 – Permanent makeup isn’t just for women, men get their brows done too, to conceal scars. Procedures cost about $400 and for more information you can go to our website WXMI.com and click on news links.
