Week of May 24, 2004

Print Media: The Grand Rapids Press The Grand Rapids Press ran only three articles this week one the 2004 election. Two of the articles were from the Associated Press and one from the LA Times. One of the stories was a very short piece about Kerry and the Democratic convention. The other two stories both ran in the Friday paper and focused on how the candidates foreign policy stands were affecting their candidacies.

Local TV News Coverage There was only one story on the local TV news about elections of any sort this week. WZZM 13 ran a two minute story on local school board elections.

Paid Political Ads This week there were fewer paid political ads than the previous weeks. There were twenty-one ads paid for by the Bush campaign and five ads from the Kerry Campaign. The Bush campaign introduced a new ad criticizingly Kerry’s record on the USA PATRIOT Act.
