Transcript

WXMI Newsreader – Governor Granholm is pushing her plan to provide healthcare to thousands of people that do have insurance. The Governor meet with a group of people today talking about her Michigan First Healthcare plan. She says it would provide universal coverage by lowering the insurance costs for small businesses and providing subsidies for people who still can’t afford it. The state would need a waver from the federal government to use Medicaid money differently. Granholm’s opponent Republican Dick DeVos is skeptical but she says it has worked elsewhere.

Governor Granholm – This in Massachusetts was done with a Republican governor and a Democratic house and senate and it was approved by the administration in Washington. We fully expect that this will be a bipartisan effort.

John Truscott (DeVos spokesman) – Governor Granholm has a history of a lot of rhetoric and no delivering, no follow through.

Newsreader – Instead of a universal coverage plan, DeVos supports more health centers for low income patients and using technology for making healthcare more efficient.
