WOOD Announces Gubernatorial Debates

While WOOD 8 is quite emphatic in telling viewers that they will be televising a gubernatorial debate, they neglect to tell the viewer anything about the other public debates an appearances planned by the gubernatorial candidates.

WOOD 8 6pm

Newsreader – We got confirmation today, Decision 2006 bringing Governor Granholm and challenger Dick DeVos to our WOOD TV studios, part of a series of televised debates before the November Election. Right now, at present, three debates planned within the last hour, we have received these comments then from the candidates. Governor Granholm said she looks forward to discussing her record of job creation in Michigan and DeVos’s real record on jobs and the economy, saying she has the most aggressive economic plan in the Nation. And DeVos says during the debate he will stress his plan for turning Michigan around. He says Michigan has the worst unemployment rate in the country and that he is not satisfied with that. WOOD TV 8 has a history of hosting political debates of course. In 2002 Governor Granholm and then Lieutenant Governor Dick Posthumous who was running on the Republican ticket. They debated here. Two years before that we aired the debate held at Calvin College between the sixth Republican candidates for President. And WOOD TV 8 will carry this live debate on Tuesday October 10 at 8pm.

Newsreader – Well our 24 hour News 8 studios once again a stop on the campaign trail for Decision 2006. And the race for governor WOOD TV will host one of a series of debates between Governor Jennifer Granholm and Republican challenger Dick DeVos, it will be the latest in a long list of debates we’ve brought you over the years. Everything from gubernatorial, mayoral, even a presidential debate. Now WOOD TV 8 will carry the live debate on Tuesday October 10 at 8pm.
