WOOD Newsreader #1- With just more than three weeks until the election and just one more debate to go, Governor Jennifer Granholm and her challenger Dick DeVos are still in a heated battle. 24 hour News 8’s political reporter Rick Albin has the latest polling numbers taken after the second debate, which was held here at WOOD TV.
The latest epic MRA poll, exclusive to WOOD TV and our media partner, shows that after the second debate voter’s opinions changed once again. 600 people were asked after the first debate who they would vote for in the Governor’s race. 46% said Governor Granholm, 40% said Dick DeVos. Those numbers represented a decline for both candidates, indicating the first debate may have had a negative effect for both. The new survey shows that both candidates picked up support after the second debate here at WOOD TV, though it shows Granholm gaining more. In the latest survey 51% of those asked say they would vote for the Governor, 42% say they would support Mr. DeVos. Both surveys have a margin of error of plus or minus 4%. The next debate is Monday night in Southfield and we will be there as we bring you the most comprehensive coverage of Decision 2006.
