The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Michigan has produced a voter's guide for all candidates who will appear on tomorrow's primary election ballot. The voter's guide is based on a questionnaire that the ACLU sent to the candidates and covers a wide variety of issues including support for Roe vs. Wade, access to contraceptives, funding for private school vouchers, and electronic privacy.
In Kent County, only three candidates-- Albert Abbasse, Bruce Hawley, and Charles Geerlings--are profiled. The three Democrats all received rankings of 80% or higher by the ACLU.
Additionally, the ACLU is reminding people that while they may be asked to provide a photo ID when they vote, it is not required. People can still vote and have their vote counted if sign a form stating that they do not have ID with them. For those who do have an ID, a rang of identification is acceptable including driver's licenses, state ID cards, US passport, military ID, student ID from a high school or college, and a tribal identification card.
