Delegates to the upcoming Democratic National Convention (DNC) and Republican National Convention (RNC) will be met by 370 parities and events sponsored by corporations such as Bank of America, AT&T, and Anheuser Busch. The parties--held at both the DNC and the RNC--will be one of many ways that corporation will seek to influence the delegates and candidates attending the conventions. Other means will include corporate sponsorship of the convention itself and extensive donations to the host committees.
While the Sunlight Foundation--who released the information--hopes to release a more complete list soon, already important information can be gleaned from their list. For example, Michigan delegates to the RNC are invited to reception organized by AT&T at the Minneapolis night club Karma on the first night of the convention. Is the reception a possible "thank you" for votes on immunity for telecommunications companies sued over President Bush's warrantless wiretapping program? Decide for yourself.
