On May 7th, Condoleezza Rice will be speaking at 1pm at the Michigan State University convocation. A coalition of student and community groups are Calling for Mass Demonstrations in response.
Rally Against Rice on May 7th!
10:30am-Gather at Valley Court Park in E. Lansing (Behind Beaners at 270 W. Grand River)
11:30am-Arrive at the Breslin Center where Rice will be speaking
There will be an alternative graduation with speakers, music and fun after the demonstration
Reasons to Oppose Condoleeza Rice’s visit include:
-The undemocratic process by which Dr. Rice was invited to speak at MSU, without consultation of the Board of Trustees, the MSU community or the graduating seniors.
-The conversion of the MSU Convocation ceremony into a forum with a political agenda.
-Dr. Rice’s lack of cooperation with 9.11 investigations.
-Dr. Rice’s support for the internationally recognized illegal war in Iraq.
-Dr. Rice’s opposition to affirmative action.
-Dr. Rice’s stance on US immigration laws.
-Dr. Rice’s support for the Patriot Act.
-The Bush Administration’s treatment of Arab Americans and Muslims.
-Dr. Rice’s support of the continued build up of nuclear weapons.
