MI GOP Attacks John Kerry and MoveOn

On Wednesday Sept. 8 web surfers who tried to access the Michigan GOP site at www.migop.org found themselves automatically routed to a website with the address www.moveonjohnkerry.org. This site, a “parody” of both www.moveon.org and John Kerry is not the first time the MI GOP has altered their website in order to make a crude political point. The moveonjohnkerry.org site is typical of all the other content on the MIGOP site, a combination of personal ridicule and dubious “facts” presented without any sources. Particularly odd is the main headline on the front page claiming that Kerry omitted parts of his early political career in a biographical video and asks, “What life history is he working so hard to forget?” Considering the less than stellar life biography of George W. Bush, one would think that the topic of the candidate’s early careers would be one the Republicans would not want to pursue. While John Kerry certainly deserves to be parodied and his positions carefully examined and criticized, this “parody” posted by the MI GOP fails to either be funny or informative. Ironically, once one gets directed to the www.moveonjohnkerry.org site, there is no way to get to the actual MI GOP webpage. In addition, many of the links at www.moveonjohnkerry.org do not work.
