As the military continues to miss its monthly recruiting goals and turns to increasingly desperate tactics, US Senator Wayne Allard has called for an investigation into recruiting tactics. While Senator Allard’s call for an investigation is largely the result of a widely reported incident in which recruiters in Allard’s home state of Colorado offered to help a student obtain a falsified high school diploma, there have been numerous other reports of misconduct, including the sexual abuse of high school students by recruiters. Along with recruiting difficulties, the military is also facing an “AWOL Crisis” over 5,000 soldiers missing from duty. Some, like Pablo Paredes, have decided not to go to war for political reasons.
