Woodward FST, a Zeeland-based company making a variety of components for gasoline turbine engines, has been awarded a contract for $20,478,446 to supply 1,361 augumenter fuel bars for the F110-129 engine. The engine has been used extensively in the F-16 fighter as well as the F-15, both of which have been used in Iraq and Afghanistan.
A number of companies in the West Michigan area have been awarded military contracts since the beginning of “the war on terror” including Smiths Aerospace who was awarded a $95 million contract in June and General Dynamics who received a $15 million contract to supply components for the M1A1 Abrams tank.
