Book Review: Karl Marx and his Environment

Media Mouse has posted a review of Isaiah Berlin’s Karl Marx and his Environment in the book reviews section of the site. While the book is considerably older than the books that we generally review (published in 1963), it is an important book because Marx remains one of the more misunderstood and misused revolutionaries in history. Moreover, Marxism, while on many levels a complete failure as a successful revolutionary theory, remains an important topic for those on the left–both for understanding where we have come from in terms of history and for determining where we want to go in the future. Over the next several months we will be posting more review of older books as part of an ongoing effort to uncover the history of past social movements, organizers, radicals, and revolutionaries in order to build a stronger contemporary movement that can build on the mistakes of the past.
