Again, the policies of Ron Paul–from immigration to his opposition to abortion–were mentioned first in the article. Anyone coming from a “left” perspective–including even mainstream Democrats–would agree that Paul’s politics are not consistent with that position. Even before one gets Paul’s probable racism (highlighted in his newsletter that is discussed above) and the involvement of white supremacists in his campaign, any Democrat/Progressive/Leftist should reject his candidacy.

Your comments are so full of flawed assumptions, it is somewhat difficult to respond, but you should have noticed that the initial criticisms of Ron Paul in the article were based on his politics–clearly stated on his website–not his connections to white supremacists. Similarly, the critique of Ron Paul’s position on racism started with his idea that he believes markets can overcome racism, not that he has received money from white supremacists.

As for the rest, national socialism isn’t of “the left.” It’s a hybrid ideology that contains components that cut across the left/right spectrum (which is fairly simplistic anyway), but it wouldn’t be accurate at all to associate it with the type of “socialism” that you are presumably talking about.

Incidentally, Canada isn’t a socialist country either.

The reason we can’t support Ron Paul is because he doesn’t support the mysterious “goals of the left” but the contrived reason you can scare people with is that he might have racist connections. Political systems can’t make people moral, and I think that’s where the “goals of the left” go terribly wrong in their assumptions.

You do realize that these neo-nazis are *SOCIALISTS* don’t you? That means YOUR people. They come from YOUR side, not ours.
