Just for the record, the comment above referencing an article in defense of Green Works comes from a poster with the public relations (PR) firm Ketchum:

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Ketchum

While the letter is written by Sierra Club president Carl Pope defending Green Works, it is worth noting that Ketchum has in the past defended Clorox from criticism through aggressive PR work:

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Clorox#Draft_Ketchum_PR_Plan_for_Clorox_leaked

I wish Clorox would take all the money its spending greening its image and use it to actually green its products.

Clorox also owns the Brita water filters division in North America. And while the original German company has had a take-back recycling program for those plastic filters since 1992, Clorox has not provided a way to recycle them. Yet it is spending huge amounts of money promoting Brita as the green alternative to bottled water.

Now there is a campaign afoot to urge Clorox to create a recycling program for Brita, and Sierra Club, in fact, is supporting it! You can read Sierra Club’s letter to Clorox and also sign the petition and send in your used filters to the campaign here: http://www.takebackthefilter.org.
