Local Protest at Burger King for Honduran Workers Rights

|

Media Mouse has been informed that there will be a protest this Sat. at 11:30-1:30 at the 461 Fuller NE Burger King to express solidarity with Honduran workers. This action, which is in conjunction with protests around the country, is being coordinated by a Honduran solidarity group called Association for a More Just Society. These simultaneous protests across the country are an attempt to hold the Burger King Corporation accountable for their firing of 27 Honduran workers without compensation, and in violation of contracts.

The outcome that the organizers are hoping for is that the manager at one of the Burger Kings will call up the corporate headquarters to voice concern about Honduran workers rights. The intention is not to scold local BK workers, but to urge them to act in solidarity with fellow workers in Central America.

There is also an e-mail campaign organized by the AJS against Burger King.
