"Whites Only" Picnic Planned on Lakeshore

|

According to The Grand Haven Tribune, flyers have been posted throughout Spring Lake and Grand Haven announcing an upcoming "whites only" picnic and discussion. Although no date, time, or location has been announced on the flyers, the flyers announce plans by "White Voices of America" to hold a "family picnic and political discussion" to address the problems facing "white America."

Local police have said there is little they can do about the planned event, which is protected under the first amendment. While notice has been given to the organizer, Cory Kent Traxler of 13625 State St in Nunica Michigan, to stop posting flyers on public property, no other measures have been taken by law enforcement to stop the picnic. In response to the planned event, the Lakeshore Ethnic Diversity group has scheduled a forum on June 2 from 7:00pm-9:00pm at the Lakeshore Middle School auditorium at 900 S. Cutler Street in Grand Haven. Once the location of the picnic is made public, it is assumed that plans for a protest will be announced.
