The mainstream media needs to start asking who was responsible for
the "intelligence lapses" committed by Iraq, lapses that increasingly look
like they were conscious distortions that reach the highest levels of the
administration. Previously published articles have suggested that Vice
President Dick Cheney played an "extraordinary role" in his visits to the
CIA and direct dealings with the CIA before the invasion of Iraq, so the
media should certainly be looking at Cheney, while not forgetting
ultimately that they these allegations were in speeches delivered by
President Bush, and consequently, he must have known if they were included
only because they were politically expedient.
