Many people around the world are enraged by the actions of the United States over the course of the past year and the United States plans to do something about it. While refusing to acknowledge that the guerrilla activities in Iraq may be a result of anti-American sentiments as a result of the killing of civilians during the war and the current occupation, the United States is instead going on the offensive. Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz has blamed Al-Jazerra for "inciting violence" in Iraq, and military intimidation of Al-Jazerra reporters is increasing. In addition, the United States is now looking towards a public relations campaign to improve the perception of the United States in the Arab world and offer an alternative to the "anti-American bias" that the US government alleges is omnipresent in news papers from the Middle East. Will their PR campaign be more effective than the airing of Uday and Qusay Hussein's bodies, a decision that has done nothing to improve the US' image? It seems unlikely.
