09/16/03 - Democrats Show their Weakness (again)

The Democrats, who have spent much of the post-9/11 period agreeing with Republican policy, are once again demonstrating their inability to provide an effective oppostion. The most recent failing: the Democrats are no longer planning to conducate a Congressional investigation of intelligence distortions by the Bush administration pertaining to Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. There is a plethora of evidence suggesting intelligence distortions, yet few Democrats are willing to pursue the issue. While two Democrats, John Murtha and Nancy Pelosi, recently called for Bush to fire his advisors on the Iraq war, the focus needs to be much higher--the Vice President and the President himself--not relatively inconsequential bureaucrats.
