While President Bush’s speech at the United Nations was better than last year’s in that he did not question the relevance of the UN, he did nothing to repair the damage done to the UN by the US invasion of Iraq. Rather than analyze the speech in today’s bulletin, the following articles are worth reading:

Also of note is John Pilger’s article on Afghanistan in which he evaluates what has happened to that country since its “liberation.” Not surprisingly, his first-hand experiences in the country are dramatically different from what is conveyed by administration officials discussing the successes of the “war on terror.”
