The US went against world opinion at the UN this week and refused to condemn Israel for its recent attack on Syria. Israel claims it acted in self-defense after a terror bombing that killed 20 in Israel recently, a claim backed by the US. Regardless, the Israeli attack violates the American-brokered disengagement agreement between Syria and Israel of 1974 and threatens to further destabilize the Middle-East.
