It is becoming apparent that the US occupation of Iraq is becoming more and more like the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. According to an article from the Independent, US forces are resorting to collective punishment of farmers by destroying their fruit trees. Israeli occupation forces have long practiced this method of destroying the olive trees of Palestinians, an action that denies these farmers their livelihood. It is very disturbing, although not surprising, to see US forces adopt the same practices.
