Military Recruiting: Opt Out Policies for Grand Rapids Area High Schools

Area high schools have a variety of different procedures for allowing students or their parents (legal guardians) to opt-out from having information made available to military recruiters as specified in the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.

This list is under construction, please contact us with information regarding opt-out policies not listed below.

Grand Rapids Public Schools

In order to opt-out from having information released to military recruiters, students (if 18 or older) or their parents or legal guardians must submit a written letter stating that they do not wish to have "student directory information" to military recruiters. This letter must be submitted within 30 days of enrollment or the first day of school. This policy is included in the student handbook and occasionally printed in GRPS newsletters.
